Dear Stewards,
Thank you to all who helped make last Friday's graduation and rainwater
harvesting celebration a smashing success, congratulations to our new group
of full-fledged stewards. If you still need your hours or just want to stay
involved, we have a few opportunities for you. The demonstration site needs
some finishing touches, we expect to get the large sign in soon and are
doing some work on the patio area. Contact Haley Paul if you want to come
by the office and help with that site hepaul at cals.arizona.edu . Also, some
of you met Jason Spar, one of our outstanding interns who will be helping me
coordinate activities at Rio Salado. Please see the note from Jason below
for more details about those activities. Since we expect to be out at Rio
Salado quite a bit over the next few months, we are creating a list of
people who are interested so we don't bombard everyone with the updates. So
be sure to let one of us know if you want to be included on that list. Also,
check out our new MWS facebook page, complete with graduation day photos!

Hello Volunteers,
My name is Jason Spar and I am the intern from ASU who will be in charge of
the Photo Point monitoring of the Rio Salado. We plan to continue the
monitoring in early-mid March and we are trying to get as many people as
possible to come on these trips. If you are interested in volunteering for
these trips for the first time, or looking to continue the work you have
already accomplished with the Photo Point, email me back so we can start to
schedule dates and times.
In terms of getting the monitoring done, we need everyone to get a short
training on the equipment before we go to the river. This can either be done
20 minutes before we leave to go to the site or it can be accomplished ahead
of time. We plan on going to the river in March and April. My schedule looks
like this:
Mondays - Thursdays: Afternoons
Saturdays and Sundays: Anytime
Going in the morning produces the best results therefore we will be going
on at least one weekend trip. More information will be provided about how to
take the pictures as well as uploading the data later when we get closer to
the dates of the trips. Also, for volunteers who still need to finish their
40 hours of service, there will be another graduation ceremony in late April
honoring you all.
Lastly, I thank all of you for volunteering your time to help out with the
Master Watershed Stewards Program and look forward to working with you.
