*_Thursday, February 24_*

*Time:*12:00 -- 1:00 pm

*Speaker:*Dr. Linda Fernandez

*Title:*Economic Analyses of Policy Options for Solving Water Challenges

This brown bag seminar offers several applied economic analyses of
public and private incentives in policies for environmental and natural
resource management internationally and locally. The analyses involve
models accounting for multiple stakeholders, data and empirical
applications to assess current or proposed policies for addressing
problems affecting water and other resources (energy, air, biodiversity).

Associate Professor, Linda Fernandez is a candidate for the advertised
position, Associate Director, WRRC, and Associate/Full Professor,
Agricultural and Resource Economics. She has been Associate Professor
of Environmental and Resource Economics at UC Riverside since 2005 and
received her Ph.D. from UC Berkeley's Department of Agricultural and
Resource Economics. Prior to Ph.D. studies, Dr. Fernandez worked at the
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 9 on water quality and
agricultural projects involving economic incentives to reduce pesticide
and erosion emissions to waterways. While studying for her Master's
degree at the University of Hawaii, she worked as a researcher at the
East West Center's Pacific Islands Development Program on economic
development and water protection projects for Pacific island nations.
She received her Bachelor's degree from UC Davis in International
Agricultural Development. Her research explores public and private
economic incentives for pollution control and natural resource
protection at local sites through international scales of management by
applying economic theory to empirical problems.
