Hello,
Nearly 20 years after the federal government set aside a section of the
San Pedro River in the name of conservation, most of it is at risk of
becoming ecologically out of whack or is already there, federal records
show.
Some of the most dramatic and negative effects from climate change
will take place in the American West, according to a new federal study.
While the East will become wetter and Midwest grain crops may benefit from
longer growing seasons, the West will be drier and rangeland livestock
production could decline because of stress from hotter summers.
And boaters heading into into Lake Tahoe are being asked a few questions
about their boating habits part of an initiative by Lake Tahoe agencies
to keep invasive mussels out of the waters.
Here are a few of the other stories making news across the region:
ARIZONA: Mine officials offer water assurances
NEW MEXICO: Gallup water deemed safe by officials
NEVADA: County says tests show Reno water safe
Plenty of news from around the world, too, updated twice daily.
