[Southern_AZ_MWS] Volunteer Opportunity - December 15th Weedwacking Battle! (Tucson)

Hi Sonoran Desert Weedwackers- This month Saturday, December 15, we will be
working again on Trail's End wash just north of Trail's End Road. It is
always a good idea to wear hiking boots. We start at 8:00am in December and
will be done by about 11:00am. With all the rain, the soil will be perfect
for removing invasive fountain grass from the wash.

A group of 54 Weedwackers cleaned out a good portion of the wash, working
for three hours and filling 124 bags. They did a spectacular job!

The energy of this group was phenomenal. When they all started to dig out
the fountain grass, the dust in the air was very noticeable. If you click on
the following link, you will see the wash with Google Earth. I have marked
where we finished. This is where we will start in December. We might be able
to finish the wash as you can see the end of the wash in the image.

Weedwackers meeting at the Caretaker's House across the road from the
Arizona Sonora Desert Museum on Kinney Road will be transported by van to
the eradication site. Meet us there at 8:00am. Gloves and digging bars will
be provided.  Munchies are always appreciated for snacking after the digging
and bagging.

Note for East Side Weedwackers: We will be revisiting the same area on
Saturday, December 8.  We will be meeting at 8:00 am in the Visitor's Center
parking lot at the Rincon Mountain District Headquarters. We will be
regularly hosting buffelgrass pulls on the second Saturdays of the month
December and January.

Remember, the first step in eradication is getting out of bed :)
