[Southern_AZ_MWS] Please RSVP - Phoenix MWS Fieldtrip, this Saturday (8/18)

Hi all!
 
Thanks for your patience - I had to work out a few details with our guest
geologist, Floyd Gray!  Our "Geologic Exploration" fieldtrip for this
Saturday is still on, rain or shine!  Please RSVP so I know we have enough
room for everyone in the vehicles - if you are willing to drive your
personal vehicle on the fieldtrip, please indicate so in your reply.  If you
want to carpool from Phoenix out to Lost Dutchman, please let me know that
as well.  
 
When: Saturday, August 18th - 8:00 a.m. til mid-afternoon
Where: Lost Dutchman State Park entrance,  6109 N. Apache Trail, Apache
Junction, Arizona 85219
 
Directions:  The park is located 5 mi. north of Apache Junction, off of AZ
88 (the old Apache Trail), at the base of the Superstition Mountains.
-Take US-60 E toward Mesa-Globe (go 25.6 mi)
-Take exit 197 for Tomahawk Rd
-Turn left at S Tomahawk Rd (go 3.2 mi)
-Turn right at N Apache Trail/AZ-88 (go 3.6 mi)
-Turn right into Lost Dutchman State Park
 
What to bring:
-sack lunch
-water 
-rain jacket
-hat, sunglasses & sunscreen
-Shoes: Hiking boots & Sandals (to wear in water)
-binoculars (if you have them)
-writing surface or clipboard (if you have one)
 
We'll be doing a bit of hiking, although nothing severe, so I recommend
bringing a backpack to put everything in as we walk!
 
Carpooling:  If you plan on carpooling, plan on meeting at the Maricopa
Extension Building where our class is usually held at 7:00 a.m.  We will
leave at 7:15 a.m. to head out to the park.  Please let me know when you
RSVP whether you plan on coming to the Extension Building or meeting out at
Lost Dutchman.
