What: Salt Cedar 3 eradication on Cave Creek
Location: Meet at the Cave Creek Town Hall parking lot
Date: February 18, 2006
Help VOAz continue the war on Salt Cedar! Many troops are needed!! This is a
perfect event for the
post-holiday season. You'll be in the great outdoors ridding Cave Creek of
highly invasive Salt Cedar and burning off those holiday calories as well!
Salt Cedar is an aggressive introduced non-native species that consumes vast
amounts of water at the expense of native species and the local water table.
We will cut and remove the plants from several points along
Cave Creek within and north of the P.A. Seitts Preserve at Go John Canyon.
Representatives from DFLT will apply herbicide to prevent re-growth.
Seeing the "before" and "after" at this job site will be pretty rewarding to
most. At the first two Salt Cedar events, we made a lot of progress. With
our new-found experience, along with the tremendous help of volunteers, the
February event should be even more productive.
Minimum age: 14
A minor who is not accompanied by a parent or guardian must bring a
completed Waiver and Medical Release for Minor (available from registration
form).
Number of volunteers needed: 30***
***We would like to make a special request to anyone who has a chain saw and
is experienced using it! Thanks!!
