arid_gardener provides a forum for open discussion on topics such as:
* REQUESTING ASSISTANCE with specific plant problems.
Please provide detailed information on:
~ Name and age of plant;
~ Description of the problem
(when did it start, what parts of the plant are affected - new
growth, outside leaves etc.)
~ Location of the plant
(Southern Exposure, full sun)
~ How often you water the plant, where you apply the water, how much water is applied
~ Are other plants in the vicinity affected?
~ Other things that might be affecting the plant - (trenching, fire, etc.)
~ What do you think the problem might be and why
Please use the subject line to clearly identify that you are asking a question and the topic
For Example:
SUBJECT: Question: Why did my agave disintegrate into a stinking putrid mass?
* PROVIDING ASSISTANCE to someone who asked a question to the list
~ Use the subject line to ensure that it accurately reflects in detail the content of your answer.
This will make the archives much more useful and easier to search.
For Example:
SUBJECT: Answer: Agave Weevil, one cause for the demise of agaves
~ Paraphrase enough of the question so that your answer will stand alone but please do not continue to forward a long string of messages and
replies. Pull only what is pertinent. File size gets very large quickly without some editing.
~ Send to the individual unless you think the entire list would benefit from the information
~ If you recommend a specific product of source please list at least three. This list is hosted by the University of Arizona and it is not
appropriate to endorse or advertise a product on the list.
~ Be sure that the email address of the person who sent the message is either in the TO: line or the CC: line. Some questions are posted to the list by people who do not subscribe to the list. Unless you send your reply directly to the sender they may not receive your answer.

for people to quickly decide if the
information would be useful to them.
~ Identify as Local, Regional or National
~ Identify as Identify as Conference, Workshop, Class, Tour, etc. & Topic
~ Identify as Specify location
~ Identify as Specify Date
